Since this is my first post, I can’t help but feel the need to do a little intro. If you passed by the About Me page, you might already know some of this, so I apologize for any repetition. But if you haven’t (you definately should :D). Then here it is my name is Esmee, and I have 3 of the most beautiful children in the world, if I do say so myself. I needed to make money, so I looked into getting a part time job, as well as things that I can do from home. Naturally, I looked to selling extra things lying around my home. Being a law student, that meant TONS of textbooks taking over my dining room. I decided to sell my old books on Amazon. After 6 solid months of procrastination, because I thought for some reason it would be super complicated and tedious to sell my books, I finally sat down to post my books.
So there I was staring at my Amazon home page with absolutely no idea how to get started . But as it turns out it was an incredibly easy process. I posted all my books in a matter of minutes, and I did not even have to take pictures of them or anything.
But first there are a few things you must consider. For example. How much do you plan on listing your books for. Amazon shows you the lowest asking price listed on their site for the same product your listing to help out. You must also consider the $39.95 monthly charge that Amazon has. I for one only planned on selling my books and will be closing the account next month. Just be aware of the numbers, because it may not be worth the charge depending on what your trying to sell and also how much you want to list it for. If the numbers leave you in the red, you may want to consider an alternative such as Chegg, Ebay or even Craigslist otherwise you. won’t make money.
Go to Amazon‘s Seller Central platform. Click register now. You will be promoted to provide all your information including bank information. They will charge the $39.95 the same day you make the account, so be aware of that. Once you create the account your Amazon Seller Central will look something like this.
Once you’ve reached the Seller Central platform click the “Inventory” tab and then “Add a Product”.
Once you’ve done that, all you have to do is input the ISBN number on the barcode of the book to get book to list automatically. You don’t have to take picture or anything of the book, the search will automatically include all the details. If you click advanced, it will give the lowest price they have the product listed for so you can match it.
Make sure its not too low because when you ship the book you don’t want the shipping together with Amazon’s fee to be more than the purchase price or you will be out money.
Side note on shipping, if you’re using USPS send all books as Media Mail its WAY cheaper! considering the weight.
Once you make the post you simply, wait for someone to buy it and ship it off to them. It’s literally a simple as that. It took me maybe 10 minutes to post my books and posting, because I had no idea what I was doing. I hope I was able to help shed some light on the ease with which this can be done to help you get started.
Last but not least, keep an eye out for your current numbers to make sure your not under the $39.95 for the month. When your numbers start getting that low, cause there is nothing left to sell it’s time to close the account. Hope this helps you put little cash in the bank.
Now get out there and make money!
